For three days and nights during one of the world’s leading contemporary art fair Art Basel Miami, the Harold Golen Gallery will turn into an electronic music and art pavilion.

Following the tremendous success of our last year’s Kaiju Monster Invasion event, we are expanding our fair presence to a three-day festival. Silence, Beauty and Horror: The Electronic Arts and Music Festival stretches our 12 Nights of Electronic Music and Art series.

Each day, electronic music and art will be dedicated to one of the following themes: silence, beauty and horror. We therefore call for music, multimedia art and performance that in any way address one of these themes.

As we expect a large traffic throughout the days, we will play music and screen videos from 12PM to 7PM in the listening room and jukebox styles. Each day will culminate in an evening concert, featuring live music and interactive electronics.

Instrumentation available for each concert is violin, clarinet, percussion, as well as everyday objects, toys, performance art, dance, video and electronics, including MacBook Pro, 8-IN firewire soundcard and a 4-channel audio system. Interactive pieces and video are welcome.

Email the following materials to festival2009@12nights.org 1. One-page text or pdf document including your name, title, a narration on how the piece relates to one of the themes, any other program notes, and the composer’s biography.

2. A link to audio and/or video recording of the composition. Once selected, the composer will be asked to provide high-resolution materials.

3. A link to any other materials such as pre-recorded audio tracks, code, patches, technical documentations, etc.

4. A copy of the score in pdf format and any other performance materials (if applicable)

5. Verbal indication of preferred category for which you would like your music or art to be considered:

A. jukebox: particularly suitable for fixed media pieces, including acousmatic music, video art and high quality recordings of electroacoustic pieces

B. concert: music for any of the above listed instruments and electronics

We will not be able to provide performance royalties at this festival.

We accept electronic submissions only. Incomplete or late submissions will not be considered.

Receipt submission deadline: October 15
